Temenos
Temenos as an archetype is very important.
Any recipe has several types of needs. Ingredients, temperature, time etc. For the mind Temenos, or healthy space, is one ingredient that is necessary for every process.
If a person has everything they need, but lack a healthy internal space, they will become a cog of society, a robot. They may function perfectly and seem very content but they only exist to the extent that others accept them as a "part" of something shared.
When you learn something it is a first step, but when you are trained it is the last step.
It's popular in our society to "teach" by force. If someone makes a mistake they are punished until they learn. The root of this idea is the fantasy that knowledge comes from outside. The result is that people are often not taught, but trained.
Unfortunately, people have even developed ways to camouflage the harm done by training. First a person is trained, then they are trained to believe that if they change the training a little they are teaching. It's an endless disease caused by failing to understand the importance of personal space in learning.
A person can harm him or her self in many ways. But harming someone else is almost always done by limiting their space. There is never a need to "help" someone by limiting their space. People who are trained to solve problems by putting restrictions on liberty, or personal space, are on the wrong side of nature.
Isn't everything "nature"?
Ultimately everything is nature. A live bird is part of nature, and a dead bird too. A person who has healthy space and a person who doesn't. The difference is one belongs to the past, an example of some mistake, and one belongs to the future, its fatal mistake not yet made.
The "magic" aspect of certain archetypes.
Temenos, and certain other archetypes have a quality that is worth noting. As mentioned in the first paragraph, every formula has ingredients. If you have the ingredients you may have success, without the ingredients you won't. However, there are exceptions. Temenos for example can allow for the rules to change. If you are short or lacking certain necessary ingredients, the "space" of the process can be compensation for the lack. It is not an exception that is ever subject to human will, but it is something that can be observed.
